Loving the recent rise of the statement tee that actually makes a statement.
Ollie Henderson's MBFW movement in Sydney - whereby models, designers and other fashion elite sported her hand painted slogan tee's including 'Start the Riot', 'Reject Racism', and my personal favourite, 'Keep Tassie's Bush I Keep Mine' - the Aussie model now has her tshirts stocked at Tuchuzy in Australia and a number of boutiques in the US.
Similarly, veteran model Erin Wasson has launched her own range of tee's and stickers, featuring softly anti-establishment slogans such as 'Ignore the It Girl' and 'F*** the Noise'.
Though perhaps Henderson's point is more specific, both women are doing their piece of good in harnessing fashion for higher purposes. I get people 'do' that all the time - but not often so blatantly and in such an 'un-fashion-y' way. No bells and whistles on these tee's, just plain and simple, power to the people, kick-arse lettering (plus fair-trade and sustainable manufacturing and charitable profit-giving - for Henderson anyway, I havn't looked this up on Wasson's line).
Good on them, I say. #starttheriot
